GROUP E KOTA STAR REPORT

DAY 1 ...........

The day started off with us arriving at 7.30am at the klinik kesihatan Bandar alor star. We went in and the group leader ( Tang Yiu Maeng) was asked to see a medical officer. What a surprise it was to know that no one there was aware that we were coming. The MO asked us to go to the Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah to ask them if they knew anything about our visit and to show them the official letter about our posting.

Tang, Lim & See walked over to the PKD and the officers there too were surprised that we were coming as they just had a batch of AIMST students here a few weeks back. We had a briefing at 8.55am about the Kota Star health clinic. On behalf of the District Health Officer, Dr. Abu Hashim, Dr. Norizan gave the welcoming address and the briefing.

Due to time constraints, the briefing which was to be held for a longer period of time was cut down to 15miutes. Dr Norizan told us to divide ourselves into 2 or 3 groups so that we can take turns to rotate among the different divisions in KK Kota Star.

The group leader then went to see Dr Norizan to further discuss about the rotation among each division but due to an on- going meeting, he only got to see Dr Norizan at 11.15am. The first group went to the Maternal & Child Health Clinic whereas the second group went to the Food Safety & Quality Control division at 11.30am. We were briefed by Encik Habibudin b. Long regarding the work done and records kept in the Food Safety& Quality Control Division. Everyone here was very helpful and friendly. We were told that tomorrow ( 16/2/09) we would do a check on a premise together with an officer from this division. Can’t wait for that!!!

The second group then continued looking for information ( policies& acts) in the Food Safety & Quality Control Division while the first group was learning about MCH. All of us adjourned for lunch at 1.30pm. we were back by 2.30 pm as requested by Dr. Norizan.

After lunch, the second group went to the Communicable Disease Control Division and was extremely briefed about Tuberculosis by En. Nazri till 4.50pm. The first group continued finding information from MCH.

Everyone gathered back at 5.00pm at the main hall in PKD and we had a small meeting regarding the rotation between each division. The meeting adjourned at 5.15pm.
